EOD Technology, Inc. Coming to Roane Regional Business Park
Thursday June 19, 2008
Kingston, TN - Lenoir City-based EOD Technology, Inc. announced recently that they are opening up an office and warehouse/distribution facility in an existing building in the Roane Regional Business and Technology Park.
The new operation will house some 30 professional level employees, bringing an annual payroll of $2 million into Roane County.
"The new space, tailored to suit our needs, will be used as EODT's corporate logistics hub and serve as office space for our domestic operations," according to Matt Kaye, EODT's CEO. "The flexibility it offers EODT will be a tremendous competitive advantage as we continue to expand our operations. We're proud to remain an East Tennessee business as we move forward".
EODT will be leasing part of the building on Sam Rayburn Boulevard that was purchased last year by Diesel Engine Parts. DHPS, which performs final machining of engine parts, acquired Roane Regional's first spec industrial building and moved its operations and 35-member workforce to Roane County last year. EODT and DHPS have already begun discussions to pursue business of joint interest.
"When Diesel Head decided to purchase our first spec building last year," Leslie Henderson, President and CEO of The Roane Alliance said, "the plan was to lease out part of the building, as the space was too large for their needs. EODT will be a good fit not only for Diesel Head but for the rest of the park as well."
EODT is a global provider of munitions response, security, and critical mission support services. Headquartered in East Tennessee since its founding in 1987, the employee-owned firm has offices in Huntsville AL, Washington DC, Baghdad, Kabul, and Kuwait City. The firm has grown significantly in the past five years, to a point where employment in East Tennessee exceeds 200, and its headquarters facilities in Lenoir City are no longer sufficient to accommodate anticipated future growth.
Roane County Industrial Board Chair David Webb said of the EODT announcement, "This is another good example of how important our spec building program is for our industrial recruitment efforts. This time we're getting two for the price of one and both are important additions to our park and our county's economy."
Roane Regional's spec building program is being developed by a private partnership, DEKD, whose managing partner is Gerry Eastman, the president of Joseph Construction.
EODT has begun to retrofit their space in the Roane Regional facility and expects to be in operation by September 1.
