Big Rock Building Products Makes Donation to County Sheriff's Department
Thursday, July 5, 2007
Kingston - For the second year in the row, a local Roane county industry -- Big Rock Building Products, an Oldcastle Company -- is helping the Roane County Sheriff's Department.
"We just want to be good neighbors and good citizens," said David Melton, the general manager of the Big Rock Building Products plant in Rockwood, "and we like to do that by being involved in the communities where we're located and contributing where it will be beneficial to the whole community."
Melton presented a check recently in the amount of $5,000 to Roane County Executive Mike Farmer for the Roane County Sheriff's Department to use for equipment purchase.
"This is wonderful," Farmer said in accepting the check, "we at the county really appreciate this. This will help us work toward getting digital cameras installed in all the patrol cars."
This is the second year that Big Rock has made this donation to Roane County. Last year, the company also donated $5,000.
Also this year, Melton said, Big Rock is planning to donate concrete pavers to repair the sidewalk at the Roane County Courthouse and for the construction of a bathroom at the Roane County Park.
"Big Rock has consistently been a good corporate citizen in Roane County," Leslie Henderson, President/CEO of The Roane Alliance, said. "Whenever we need some landscaping pavers here at The Alliance or at the entrance signs for the industrial park where they are located, Big Rock has always come through for us. They certainly know how to give back to their community and we sure appreciate them."
