The Roane County School System is located in scenic Roane County, just 20 minutes from Knoxville to the east and Oak Ridge to the north. Our county system scores the highest of any county system in this region, according to the state's "report cards."
The system is comprised of 18 schools from Pre-K through twelfth grade. Students attend seven elementary schools (PreK-5), four middle schools (6-8), one PreK-8 school; and five high schools (9-12). The Midtown Education Center serves the county with an alternative education program and GED preparation classes. All Roane County schools are accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Approximately 7,400 students are enrolled in the schools of Roane County. 650 professional personnel lead instruction and administration; 350 support personnel provide support services. Teachers work a 200 day contract and salaries are comparable to others in our area and size. Professional development is encouraged and supported by schools and the system.
Roane County Schools has enjoyed a long and storied history. From the first classrooms in the early 1800's to our technologically-enhanced classrooms of today, Roane County Schools strives to offer the children of Roane County a place to learn, grow, and achieve at their highest levels.
