Tennessee Career Center

Roane County's Tennessee Career Center provides workforce investment activities that increase participant's employment, retention, earnings and skill attainment and as a result, improves the quality of the workforce, reduces welfare dependency, enhances the productivity, and competitiveness of our nation.

The Tennessee Career Center system is a structured system put in place across the state of Tennessee to provide services to both businesses and job seekers.  Valuable input from the business and industry sectors drive the multiple services provided to both job seeker and employer at the local and state levels.  Tennessee Career Centers offer:

  • Access to Job Seekers - Multiple services provided through TN Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
  • Customized Training - Specific training identified by an employer needed to maximize the abilities of their workforce.
  • On-the-Job Training - Training dollars given to an employer as a result of hiring an individual with limited or no direct experience in that particular field (working through the local Workforce Investment Act provider).
  • Incumbent Worker Training - The state's agreement with eligible employers to provide funding assistance to upgrade their workforce in order to avoid worker dislocation.

According to Workforce Development Administrator Susan Cowden, "For businesses, we are a source for more skilled workers, recruitment and training services. For job seekers, we are a source for job training, information, placement and opportunities.

Our goal is to bring together Tennessee workers and employers in a safe, profitable workplace."
